Kids playiNg AT war in Masisi
Children copy what they know. These kids were photographed in Masisi in eastern DRC in November 2014. The area was recovering from violent clashes between militia and the national army in the region in 2013 and armed groups still operated nearby - this meant a high military presence with obvious effects on young minds.
These kids patrolled and played from experience..
Some Other work from DRC:
Gorillas in virunga
These giants roam the mountains between DRC and Rwanda. Rangers from the Congolese Institute for the Conservation of Nature (ICCN in its French acronym) patrol Virunga park defending wildlife - including elephants and gorillas - against poachers.
Student FasHion Show in Goma, DRC
Students from the University of Goma helped out by an association of disabled youth in Goma organised this fashion and dance show.
Fashion in Goma is not quite as loud as in Kinshasa in the west and Brazzaville in neighbouring Republic of Congo. Those cities are home to la SAPE - la Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes (French for "Society of Ambiance-Makers and Elegant People").
